About The Artist

Betty Bullen is at home in the Volunteer State. The Ridge-and-Valley Appalachians in Tennessee offer an impressive view of nature's ability to create beauty from a continental collision. What better place for an artist to feel the welcoming platform for creativity.

Betty considers this area her home. Although she joined the ranks of the fast-paced financial industry, the comforting appeal of Union County, Tennessee, remained in the memories of her mind. In 2004, Bullen returned to the homestead where her 5th Great Grandfather had received a land grant for his services to our Country.

Today, Betty is able to follow her heart in oil painting without the distraction of the world. She has studied under the direction of Dean Fisher at the University of Tennessee, Master Artists David Laffell, Seth Haverkamp, Robert Johnson, Tom Browning, Roger Dale Brown, and Lea Colie Wight, and the education has proved invaluable. Her florals, landscapes, and portraits come alive with soft rich detail. A master of emotion, Betty arouses feeling in all her work.

She is a member of Oil Painters of America, Portrait Society of America, Tennessee Artists Association and the Art and Cultural Alliance of Greater Knoxville. She also exhibited and painted on site at Dolly Wood Theme Park for eight seasons.
